The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has officially released a recruitment notification inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Junior Engineer (Trainee) under the Infrastructure Planning and Management (IPM) Section.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a three-year diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.
- Minimum required marks: 60% or 6.0 CGPA
- Candidates must possess the required diploma qualification before applying
- Candidates holding higher qualifications such as B.E. / B.Tech are not eligible for these positions
Experience Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant field experience in their respective engineering discipline.
Civil Engineering
- Building maintenance work
- Concrete work supervision
- Preparation of technical estimates
- Tender preparation and site-related activities
Electrical Engineering
- HT/LT substation maintenance
- Diesel Generator (DG) maintenance experience
Mechanical Engineering
- Maintenance of air conditioning systems
Age Limit
The maximum age limit for applicants is 28 years as on the last date of receipt of online applications, i.e., 8 June 2026.
Important Instructions for Applicants
- The applicant must be a citizen of India
- Selected trainees may be provided free hostel accommodation subject to availability
- Candidates working in Government departments or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) during certificate verification or provide a formal undertaking
- Candidates who previously applied under Advertisement No. IITG/R/01/2026 dated 22.01.2026 must apply again with complete experience details
- Incomplete online applications are liable to be rejected without further notice
- This is a purely contractual appointment and does not guarantee regular employment at IIT Guwahati
Contract Duration
The initial appointment will be for a period of 11 months.
Based on performance and institutional requirements, the contract may be extended for up to two additional terms of 11 months each.
