The Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Meghalaya, Shillong has issued an enrollment notice for the recruitment of 108 volunteer positions in the Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion. Applications are invited from eligible Home Guards Volunteers for enrollment as Part-Time Naik and Part-Time Lance Naik.

The engagement is purely voluntary, temporary, and contractual in nature for an initial period of one year. Eligible candidates who fulfill all prescribed conditions must submit their applications on or before 6th July 2026.

Honoraria and Allowances

Selected volunteers will receive monthly honoraria under the ‘Wages’, Highly Skilled Category at rates prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya.

In addition to the prescribed honoraria, volunteers will also be entitled to applicable State Government Risk Allowance.


Eligibility Criteria

Nationality and Domicile

  • Applicants must be citizens of India.
  • Applicants must be permanently domiciled in Meghalaya.

Service Requirement

  • The enrollment is open only to Home Guards Volunteers who have been deployed or engaged with various Requisitioning Agencies.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum aggregate service period of 3 years (1095 days).

Age Limit

  • The upper age limit must not exceed 50 years as on 15th April 2026.

Required Documents

Candidates must submit the prescribed Standard Application Form along with attested copies of the following documents:

  • Two recent passport-size photographs (one photograph must be pasted on the application form).
  • Educational Qualification Certificate.
  • Birth Certificate or Age Certificate verified as per official school records.
  • Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued in Meghalaya.
  • Home Guards Basic Training Certificate.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate issued by an Authorized Government Medical Practitioner or Institution.
  • Official Deployment Period Certificate in the prescribed format issued by the District Commandant, Officer Commanding District Training Centre, or Deputy Controller of Civil Defence.

Selection Process

Application Screening

Applications that are incomplete or submitted without the required self-attested documents and certificates will be rejected without any correspondence.

Personal Interview

Eligible candidates will be called for a Personal Interview at designated centres in Shillong and Tura.

Interview Notification

No separate call letters or individual intimation will be issued. Candidates must regularly check the official departmental notice boards and official portal for updates regarding shortlisted candidates and interview schedules.

Document Verification

  • Candidates must produce original documents during the interview.
  • Valid identity proof must be carried to the interview venue.
  • Candidates should be prepared to stay for 2 to 3 days at their own expense if required.
  • No TA/DA will be provided.

As the enrollment is purely voluntary in nature, the State Reservation Policy/Roster does not apply to this recruitment process.
