About Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong (IIPHS)
The Indian Institute of Public Health Shillong (IIPHS) is a northeast regional institute of public health established in 2015 by the Public Health Foundation of India in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya. The institute was created to address limited institutional and systems capacity in public health across the North East Region of India. Its mandate includes research, interdisciplinary education, and advocacy.
Project Details
The selected candidate will work under the project:
Zoonotic and Vector-Borne Diseases (ZVBD) in Northeast India: a Trans-Disciplinary Research and Training Centre.
The project is being implemented by IIPHS Shillong in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Requirements
- Collect and process samples and collect socio-economic data from community participants.
- Maintain safety and quality standards for collected samples and equipment used.
- Ensure proper labelling, storage, and maintenance of collected samples.
- Arrange transportation of samples to the Institute.
- Coordinate closely with field and laboratory teams.
- Participate in fieldwork whenever required.
- Perform any other project-related or institution-related activities assigned by the Principal Investigator or immediate supervisor.
Operational Requirements
- Preparation and processing of samples at study sites.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records and logs of work performed.
- Submit weekly reports.
- Provide regular updates to the immediate supervisor.
- Assist in report writing when required.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT).
Language Requirements
Candidates must have proficiency in English.
Candidates with working knowledge of the following languages will be preferred:
- Khasi
- Hindi
- Bengali
Experience
Clinical, field, or laboratory experience will be considered an asset.
Salary Details
The Annual Salary (CTC) will be commensurate with the available skills and fitment of the selected candidate as determined through the selection process.
